Founded in 1895 The London School of Economics and Political Science has risen to become one of the world’s foremost Social Science Universities. It is based around several buildings in the WC2 area of central London.

Architecture PLB were selected to refurbish and relaunch the prestigious Lionel Robbins Library Building. Working with our partner, The Furniture Practice, Forma 5’s M10 segmented bench was selected as part of the loose furniture solution. The M10 bench allows the designer to incorporate more organic shapes than a traditional linear solution, usually found in libraries and deep plan commercial buildings.

The lower ground floor library is set within an area with a lot of vertical space and is accessed via an impressive sweeping staircase. The positions flow well within a seemingly generous space without compromising on capacity or the provision of soft seating areas.

Over 130 students can now study in a relaxed environment which is not only easy on the eye but comfortable. The clever use of colours provides a vibrant, light, fresh space in the depths of the university.
